Big Time Course- Big Time Champion

July 13, 2010

If you don’t watch the LPGA, which even the folks at NBC and the Golf Channel must admit to, then you missed one of the most definitive championship performances of our generation on Sunday at Oakmont.

Paula brought the hammer down on the rest of the field with an intensity and determination we have not seen since you know who played like you know who. She put on a clinic on the back nine and made us forget how young she is, it was a big time performance by a big time champion.

US Open ! Televised and Everything

July 8, 2010

I actually refrained from whining about the Jamie Farr not being televised because it is what it is, Golf Channel’s priorities are not with golf, they are with Tiger and bad reality TV. That being said playing the US Women’s Open at these venerable old courses is a treat because we get to see the courses played more in tune with the architects original intentions. I really like either Ai as a safe pick, but Jeong Jang is putting it back together after the past year of injury and nothing would be more fun than watching JJ complete her comeback by winning the Open

New Format! No TV!

April 17, 2010

The following was posted on the LPGAs facebook page on Friday:
*** The Mojo6 will air tape-delayed on CBS in two one-hour specials on May 1st & 2nd from 2:30 to 3:30 p.m. ET. Be sure to mark your calendars to watch this great event, because you’ve never seen golf like this! It’s fast and it’s fun. It’s Raceway Golf.***

Its fast its fun, and a shamwow commercial is getting a better air slot! Mr. Commissioner, I have a great deal of faith in you and I know that you can get Golf to be aired on The Golf Channel. Mr. Whan strikes me a very smart man with a real passion for the game and I know he can do this. The disrespect real golf that us amateurs need to watch to get better is incredible. Instead they air ridiculous shows that I would only wish on my worst enemy. The Golf Fix? Really? Seriously? Anyone who watches that show to get better needs a parental lock on the Golf Channel. However, that is another topic for another day.

I never got nauseous watching the Masters before

April 8, 2010

OK Tiger now you are really making me sick to my stomach. “I want to find out what your thinking was. I want to find out what your feelings are. And did you learn anything?” Dad asks.
Please Tiger, and please Nike, enough. I like my comfy Air Tour shoes but the only people I know who play Nike anything are paid too , or wannabes who show up at the course twice a year with their victory blades and TW hats and they couldn’t hit the broad side of a barn. Nike, I use your balls for practice out back and it is no wonder they don’t feel right, they are apparently made of brass.

Major Pedigree

April 5, 2010

Watching Yani Tseng win another major yesterday was not surprising. What was surprising was the steel with which she performed the feat. After her eagle chip, she never looked back. It was a staggeringly workmanlike performance from some one so young. Petterson had her in her sights, however, Yani kept playing well and aggressively.

Golf Channel’s A team

March 29, 2010

Tom Abbott and Judy Rankin, after a single event, are now the best announcing team on the Golf Channel. Tom is a funny engaging guy and Judy is so knowledgeable and disarmingly diplomatic amongst controversy. It is a long climb for the LPGA to get the audience it deserves, but this a big help.

I can see why no one would want to watch

March 29, 2010

I can see why ESPN completely ignored the news from this week’s tournament.  Maybe the LPGA needs more attractive players atop the leaderboard.
